Jeff has been training and working like crazy to get prepared for the Kansas City marathon. Finally race day came! We left the house at 4:45 in the morning to make sure we had plenty of time to be there before the race started at 7am.
Grant and I decided to do the 5k race while Jeff ran his. Our race went well, and I ran for the first two miles while Grant chilled in the stroller. With about a mile left Grant got a little frustrated and needed a break from the stroller. After a quick pull over G got out of the stroller and walked a bit and needed some snuggling. We walked the rest of race together with G pushing the stroller, walking hand in hand with me, or snuggled up in my arms. Our time wasn't the best but we crossed the finish line together!
We had a few hours to kill before Jeff would be finishing up his race. Grant and I went and had breakfast at Crown Plaza where he was able to walk around and play in a secure area. We even celebrated our race victory with a hot chocolate!
Once it was finally warm enough outside for us to just stand outside and cheer on the runners we headed to the finish line. It was such an inspiration to see all the different types of runners and watching everyone achieve their goals. To say that we were even more inspired and proud of Jeff is an understatement! Seeing him run up and cross the finish line after running for 26.2 was definitely emotional and happy!!! His official time was 4:51:34.
Congratulations to Jeff for accomplishing such an amazing physical challenge. We are beyond proud of you and what you have achieved! You did great and we love you so very much!!!
