To kick off the summer, the first weekend in June Colorado encourages people to come and fish for free at any lake in the state. Quail lake park this year was giving out free fishing poles to the first 500 kids. With Jeff loving to fish we decided to take advantage of the experience and take Grant. The Robers came out with us and Hayley and Grant both got their first official fishing poles!
After the kids got their pole they had to go around to four other stations and learn how to tie a knot for the line in their poles, get bobbers, learn lake safety, and finally get their bait! Jeff and Bill walked around like proud daddies and made sure Grant and Hayley's poles were perfect and ready to go!
We found a perfect spot on the lake where we could park the strollers and be in a little bit of shade. Grant happily sat in his stroller eating snacks while Jeff fished! After Jeff would catch a fish and he would show Grant naturally Grant's response was to want to touch the fish.
It was such a great family day and we know in the future that there will be many more fishing trips! By far my favorite part was seeing how excited Jeff was to take Grant on an activity I know he has been dying to do since we found out we were having a little boy!
